The Department of Organisation, Work and Technology at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) invites applications from accomplished researchers for a Professorship in the intersection between society, technology and organisation studies. We welcome applicants with a proven record of accomplishment in the social study of technology, especially with a critical and interdisciplinary orientation. The successful candidate disciplinary background could be in areas such as information systems, science and technology studies, or organisation studies more generally. We are particularly interested in applicants with a strong theoretical orientation, and/or with a focus on the sociological aspects of cybersecurity and resilience. The successful candidate will contribute to the intellectual life of the department and the school through an established international research profile. This will typically be reflected in an excellent profile of high-quality journal publications, a track-record of securing external funding, engagement with international research networks, and convincing evidence of esteem indicators such as editorships of journals, membership of editorial review boards, etc. The successful candidate must also have a PhD in a relevant discipline and an established track record of competent teaching. Preference will be given to applicants with experience of supporting the development of junior faculty and PhD students.
The department offers an excellent research environment, with a high level of collegiality, a strong seminar series, and strong collaborations with departments in the social sciences and health research, supported through joint appointments. Become part of a community using academic excellence to respond to societal needs, find solutions to research grand challenges, and help develop the responsible managers of the future.
