The department has a diverse academic portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree apprenticeship courses with over 2000 students. Alongside the taught portfolio, the department has secured its first UoA 11 REF return and has a vibrant portfolio of enterprise and consultancy work in the region.
Within this role, you will work closely with the existing deputy head to operationalise our vision, values and curriculum goals as a key part of the university strategy, aiming to become the world’s leading applied university.
You will support the Head of Department, by leading on the operational aspects of academic development, supporting the development of a high-performance culture, growing research in the department and providing a strategic link between the Head of Department and operational, academic groups responsible for the implementation of the strategy.
The Department of Computing is home to more than 90 academics and over 2,000 students - all supported by technical and professional services staff enabling the department to deliver its learning, teaching, enterprise and research activities.
The department’s taught portfolio consists of specialised UG, PG and Higher Degree apprenticeship provision. We bring together courses in Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Games, Cyber Security, Forensics, Computer Networks, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Computing, Digital Technologies, delivering an applied curriculum.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for all areas of the taught program and to support research in AI and Robotics.
