We are looking for a professional and proactive individual to join our technical team to support manufacturing and general activities within the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
You will be providing manufacturing support for biomedical research laboratories. You will be responsible for machining designs to close tolerances from various sources using your effective technical skills on a range of manual manufacturing equipment.
For this role, you should have served a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent and have subsequent relevant experience of working in an engineering environment. Comprehensive skills in manual machining are essential. You should have a good understanding and experience in mechnical engineering principles, 3D software, design and manufacturing. You should also have a broad knowledge and experience in basic repair and maintenance of fabrication machines such as 3D printers and small tool equipment.

The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was awarded a Silver award in 2020. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees.
