The unique facilities in the Advanced Centre for Biochemical Engineering (ACBE) contain an array of cell culture equipment permitting the growth of both microbial & mammalian cell lines from 250ml to 100L. These facilities are used across the department’s research activities encompassing research in the production of products used industrial & therapeutic application, as well as in cell therapy. The facilities are also used for both undergraduate & taught postgraduate teaching activities. A position is available to manage & develop these facilities
About the role
The post-holder will be responsible for the overall management of upstream bioprocessing facilities and the equipment to support research, teaching and knowledge exchange activities. They will organise, oversee and develop teaching and training activities within the upstream bioprocessing areas. The post holder will provide advice and supervision of research within upstream bioprocessing area providing feedback on work, analysis data and results, planning experimental schedules and assistance in preparing material for publication. The role holder will be responsible for managing and maintaining the long-term cryopreserved cell stocks and associated electronic records.
About you
The successful candidate should have knowledge of relevant bioprocessing techniques and knowledge of health & safety policies & procedures. They should have advance practical skills in bioprocessing with experience of running fermenters.
