Funded PhD opportunities: Behaviour change in our approach to food and healthy eating
The University of Stirling is investing £3.6m in doctoral research over the next 3 years through our Institute for Advanced Studies Studentships. We are currently inviting original project proposals across six inter-disciplinary research themes, including ‘Behaviour change in our approach to food and healthy eating’.
Funding is available to both UK and international students interested in exploring this research theme, including:
Behaviour change in our approach to food and healthy eating
The world faces multiple food challenges, from ensuring adequate supply in areas of hunger to reducing consumption in developed societies where obesity is a major public health concern. What role does our attitude to food, and individual- and collective behaviours related to healthy eating, play in ensuring the sustainability of the food system?
Our studentship initiative provides funding for postgraduate research in ‘Behaviour change in our approach to food and healthy eating’. You are invited to submit an original project proposal that aligns with one of these related research clusters:
For full details of our research clusters and example project ideas, visit our Behaviour change in our approach to food and healthy eating webpage.
Who can apply for the studentships?
We welcome expressions of interest from all candidates who meet the University’s entry criteria for Postgraduate Research degrees. We especially welcome expressions of interest from people from groups that have been under-represented in the UK Postgraduate Research community in the past, including people from ethnic minorities, women, disabled people, and people from care-experienced or socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Read more about eligibility in our guide for applicants.
