Funded PhD opportunities: Deploying rationality, reason and risk management to support equality and human rights
The University of Stirling is investing £3.6m in doctoral research over the next 3 years through our Institute for Advanced Studies Studentships. We are currently inviting original project proposals across six inter-disciplinary research themes, including ‘Deploying rationality, reason and risk management to support equality and human rights’.
Funding is available to both UK and international students interested in exploring this research theme, including:
Deploying rationality, reason and risk management to support equality and human rights
The progress made towards developing more codified frameworks for equality and human rights and the processes to uphold them is increasingly under challenge across the world. This theme seeks to better understand the social and technological nature of these challenges and understand how equalities and human rights frameworks might need to evolve to meet them.
Our studentship initiative provides funding for postgraduate research in ‘Deploying rationality, reason and risk management to support equality and human rights’. You are invited to submit an original project proposal that aligns with one of these related research clusters:
For full details of our research clusters and example project ideas, visit our Deploying rationality, reason and risk management to support equality and human rights webpage.
Who can apply for the studentships?
We welcome expressions of interest from all candidates who meet the University’s entry criteria for Postgraduate Research degrees. We especially welcome expressions of interest from people from groups that have been under-represented in the UK Postgraduate Research community in the past, including people from ethnic minorities, women, disabled people, and people from care-experienced or socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Read more about eligibility in our guide for applicants.
