Job Description

Media Arts and Design Programme is seeking candidates with expertise in the following areas: UI UX design, graphic design, and product design. Successful candidate should also be qualified to teach theoretical courses in arts and design. In addition to creative practice and academic research, the candidate will be responsible for supervising, facilitating field trips, tutoring and caring for students and academic promotion. 

Job Requirement

Candidates should have a PhD degree or at least a Master’s degree of Design or Fine Arts (MFA) with extensive working experience in Higher Education and related discipline. Candidates are required to know the academic theories and practices of the related art and design discipline.

In addition to uploading a detailed CV and job application form, please submit a portfolio of creative work limited to 20 examples in PDF format no bigger than 10MB (or provide a web link to an online portfolio) to recruit@uic.edu.cn. Preference will be given to candidates who have administrative experience and management skills.

Proficiency in English is required. English is the medium of instruction in the Media Arts and Design Programme. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with the successful candidate’s experience and research accomplishments. 

Benefits and Appointment Terms

Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.

About the Programme

The Media Arts and Design (MAD) Programme aims to foster a new generation of graduates with global vision, professional knowledge, creativity, leadership and research skills required for the robust development of media arts and creative industries in China and abroad. Through rigorous visual arts, media and design training coupled with interdisciplinary collaborations, trans-media experimentations, and exchange activities, the MAD Programme will give students a strong motive to develop beyond their comfort zones and explore the boundaries of their knowledge and abilities. 

The School of Culture and Creativity (SCC) at United International College (UIC) aims to offer a comprehensive, transformative and multidisciplinary approach to the studies of culture, media, design and creative industries. A range of programmes with a strong creative and practical focus will be offered by the School, including the Bachelor of Communication  in Animation and Interactive Media, the Bachelor of Business Administration  in Culture, Creativity and Management, the Bachelor of Arts  in Cinema and Television, the Bachelor of Communication  in Media Arts and Design, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music Performance, the Bachelor of Business Administration  in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management, Master of Arts in communication - Film TV & New Media Concentration, Master of Arts in communication - Interactive Media Studies Concentration.
