We have been actively growing our capacity in interdisciplinary data visualisation research with recent recruits and funded research projects and have recently launched the first MASc in Data Visualisation in the UK. To contribute to this exciting new development and to further strengthen our research profile in this field we are interested in applications from scholars working with interdisciplinary approaches in data visualisation related research including (but not restricted to) digital cartography, design research (information design, communication design, or human design), digital methods, spatial methods, human-computer interaction, and interdisciplinary data science. You will have a promising or established track record of internationally recognized research and experience in the design and delivery of interdisciplinary teaching. You will be able to contribute to teaching on one or both of the following core modules on our MASc Data Visualisation: Visualisation Foundations, and Advanced Visualisation Design Labs as well as being able to contribute to and broaden the portfolio of option modules that we offer. You will have detailed knowledge of software/tools to support your teaching and research (e.g. programming languages such as Python/R), and be enthusiastic about teaching students from a wide variety of backgrounds including from sciences, social sciences, computer science and arts and humanities.
You will have an interest in one or more of our research themes, as well as the interest, capability and motivation to develop your own research profile and apply for research funding from a wide variety of funding bodies. See, for example, some of our past and current projects. You will be able to play a significant role in the development of teaching programmes in the Centre as well as attracting and supervising PhD students.
We are currently inviting applications to two Assistant Professor positions, this one and one in Data Science and Studies. If you are interested in applying for both you may make two applications or state in one application that you are applying for both and you will be considered for both. Applications for only one are of course very welcome.
Interview Date: TBC.
