The role of the Senior Academic Quality Manager (Postgraduate) is a key one, whose purpose is to assist and support UCFB/GIS maintain the high academic quality standards whilst, at the same time support the institution as it undergoes a period of considerable operational and strategic change.

The post holder will concentrate primarily on Postgraduate (PG) courses, but will work in close collaboration with the Senior Academic Quality Manager (Undergraduate).  Working together these post holders will be expected to use their academic quality expertise to manage the daily delivery of academic quality services across the full breadth of the academic lifecycle.

KEY TASKS:

Areas of management and leadership responsibility and accountability include but are not limited to those outlined below: 

1. Working in collaboration with the Senior Academic Quality Manager (UG) to deputise as appropriate for the Head of Department.

2. Work with the Head of Department and the Senior Academic Quality Manager (UG) to:

  • develop high quality and effective departmental annual operating/service delivery plans and priorities, to ensure parity of service provision is maintained across all campus sites;
  • ensure high quality and effective services are delivered at the appropriate point in the academic cycle/student journey and in line with Department and Institution strategic aims, SLAs and KPIs; and
  • act as the first point of escalation for staff and students for issues or complaints relating to the remit of the Department.

3. Line management of specific posts within the wider Academic Quality team, which may include remote line management of staff.

4. Both manage and contribute to the day-to-day delivery of Academic Quality Department services ensuring a high quality and effective service level is maintained throughout the academic cycle.

5. Lead and/or contribute to development and delivery of strategic projects in support of the institution’s strategic aims, including supporting the institutional aim of achieving its own Degree Awarding Powers.

6. Maintain, update and develop UCFB/GIS’s academic quality-orientated policies and procedures and develop associated process flows and quick guides, ensuring that they remain reflective of current practice and ratified for use by the validating institution and UCFB/GIS’s Academic Board.

7. Regularly audit/“health check” compliance with policies and procedures.

8. Work with the Head of Department to produce and/or audit:

  • the annual quality review and evaluation reports and associated quality improvement recommendation plans;
  • internal and external (including statutory) reports and data returns; and
  • bespoke data analysis reports and functionality.

9. Act as a liaison with the Student Administration Department in respect of data required to support internal and external reporting obligations.

10. Work in collaboration with the Senior Academic Quality Manager (UG) to:

  • act as the first point of contact for expert advice on matters relating to Quality Assurance and Enhancement;
  • provide both targeted and institution-wide training and information updates relating to areas within the remit of the Department;
  • actively promote the services on offer from the Department to internal and external stakeholders; and
  • proactively work to build strong collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

11. Lead and/or contribute to the development and delivery of strategic projects in support of  departmental and institutional strategic aims, with a particular focus on initiatives to enhance the services provided by/overseen by the Academic Quality Department.

Please note that if you do not have permission to work in the UK, UCFB will not be able to obtain a Certificate of Sponsorship for you to take up this position.  All non EU/EAA candidates must have valid immigration status and/or a UK visa valid for the duration of the contract in order to be considered for this role.

Location: Manchester, Wembley
Salary: £41,608 to £49,651 (Circa) per annum depending upon qualifications & experience (plus a 10% London weighting allowance if applicable)
