The Faculty of Engineering & Design is intending to make an exciting leadership appointment. We seek a Professor of Sustainable Built Environment to lead research and education in regenerative design. We have lived through ‘low carbon’ and ‘net zero’ eras (doing less harm) in terms of fundamental research and education challenges, and we are now entering the era of regenerative design (doing good). We seek someone wishing to propel this fledgling field into something special at the University of Bath, to the benefit of all humanity.
You will have a strong research and education background in engineering or architecture, moulded on regenerative design principles, with a proven track record in growing a new area of scholarship. You will be an inspiring and innovative leader, demonstrating the ability to create, deliver and embed significant change solutions. You will have a record of attracting research funding to grow teams, and a record of disseminating high-quality publications world wide.
This is a permanent, full-time role.
The Faculty of Engineering and Design at the University of Bath hosts four departments: Architecture & Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronic & Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. You will join one of these departments, according to best fit. All are ranked in the top 10 in national league tables. The University of Bath is presently University of the Year 2023, according to The Times / Sunday Times. Our institutional NSS results have placed us first in England two years in a row. Our Faculty hosts the new £70m IAAPS facility at the Bath Bristol Science Park, where clean mobility is the centrepiece challenge.
For more information about this role please contact the Dean, Professor Tim Ibell (t.j.ibell@bath.ac.uk) or the Deputy Dean, Professor Davide Mattia (dm294@bath.ac.uk).
