Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.
We are now seeking an inspirational, innovative, and enterprising academic to lead the delivery of excellence in teaching, research and knowledge exchange in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences. A positive and creative student experience resulting in excellent outcomes is critical to the mission of the school.
The School Director is a senior management role within the University and a key position in the faculty structure. Reporting to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Science, the post provides a significant opportunity to lead a creative and award winning school influencing the strategic direction of both the school and faculty.
The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, and its imbedded Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES), have an international reputation for their world leading research, earning a QS World University Ranking as a top 10 department in 2022 and excellent REF 2021 results. The research culture in the school is thriving and you will continue to drive achievement in this area.
You will have excellent academic credentials and experience of senior strategic and academic leadership. You should have an established profile at international, or at least national, level within their own specialist area of research.
If not already possessed, a Chair may be available to a suitably qualified candidate.
In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Laura Bishop, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Science on email l.c.bishop@ljmu.ac.uk or through her PA Wendy Prayle w.a.prayle@ljmu.ac.uk.
This is an exciting time to join LJMU in our bicentenary year and with the launch of our new strategic plan.
If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.
