About The Role

BA(Hons) Fashion Photography is seeking to appoint a part-time Senior Technician, Fashion Image. We are looking for candidates that have specific professional experience that supports an industry led curriculum centred around contemporary practices in film making and photography. You will work alongside our energetic and dynamic teaching team with specialist and professional technical expertise in fashion image-making. This exciting opportunity is based in one of Europe’s best equipped educational photographic facilities, that supports an award-winning course.

You will create and deliver workshops and provide technical support for moving-image, digital photography, camera, photo post-production and studio related subjects. You will be an integral part of the course team, contributing your experience in digital camera work, studio/location lighting, and the latest emerging 3D digital technologies. Your role will encompass professional applied experience in fashion image making and post-production. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops.

Responsibilities will include communicating with stakeholders, timetabling, scheduling, supporting for online booking of resources, acting as an effective point of contact, and ensuring access to up-to-date and accurate information for students, academics, fellow technicians, and other university staff.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with an excellent working knowledge of a wide range of relevant photographic and fashion image-making practices. The position requires excellent abilities to communicate and demonstrate new skills and techniques to students with a wide range of learning styles, based on professional experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience with fashion film, from cinemaphotography, digital post-production and editing. Additionally, we require the candidate to have demonstrable experience and knowledge of a wide range of video cameras, professional lighting (location and studio). The role requires a thorough knowledge of relevant specialist software including Adobe Premiere. A working knowledge of Adobe After Effects would be advantageous.

A crucial part of the role requires extensive knowledge of photographic stills technologies, specific to fashion image making. Industry level knowledge that includes digital capture, cameras, studio and location flash lighting practices is key. Postproduction workflow and specific software that include Capture One, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.

Experience with emerging 3D technologies, that include Photogrammetry, Blender, Metashape and with a willingness/ability to learn these and other specialist technologies is important aspect for the role. Technical workshops centred around creativity and new image-making technologies will be key to the development of the curriculum.

We are looking for an individual who is an excellent communicator, is motivated, supportive, and enthusiastic. The ability to excite students through industry-linked initiatives, demonstrating a progressive and dynamic approach to in the delivery of technical workshops is essential.

This is a permanent, part time, 19.25 hour per week position with negotiable working days to be confirmed according to timetable requirements.
