Centre for English Language Education (CELE)

With over 110 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting students on UNNC Preliminary Year modules, presessionals, summer schools and in-sessional language and academic skills support programmes.

Preliminary Year Programme

The Preliminary Year Programme is offered to students in their first year of study at UNNC and represents 120 academic credits. The programme is currently a 50-50 split between modules focusing on specific academic subjects and modules focusing on the development of English Language skills. Successful completion of the Preliminary Year is a pre-requisite for progression to the second year of study.
