Grade 8 and Salary Range £45,737 to £54,421

FT Indefinite

The Opportunity

The School of Life Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Pharmacology to support the expansion of the School. This is a permanent position. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a leading research programme in pharmacology and contribute to the development and delivery within the school’s new pharmacology undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This post represents an exciting opportunity for an individual to develop their career.

The School of Life Sciences is currently expanding its teaching and research portfolio into the field of pharmacology. This expansion will build on our existing strengths in biochemistry, structural biology, and the growing success of the Keele Centre for Glycosciences. The development of our pharmacology research and teaching activities will be further supported by collaborations with colleagues in the Schools of Chemical and Physical Sciences (Medicinal Chemistry and Forensic Science) and Pharmacy & Bioengineering, as well as cross-faculty collaborations with the Keele School of Medicine and the Harper & Keele Veterinary School.

We are looking for a scientist with a background in pharmaceutical research, combined with a genuine love for knowledge discovery, capacity for innovation, and strong collaborative ethic. The successful candidate will have the potential to develop an internationally competitive research programme which will attract external funding, and generate impact in the field of pharmacology. It is our expectation that you will qualify for inclusion in future Research Excellence Framework submissions in the UK. In addition, the successful candidate will work with our School of Life Sciences teaching team to develop the BSc / MSci in Pharmacology. In order to achieve this, you will be able to incorporate your knowledge and experience of pharmacology into exciting learning experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

You should have a Ph.D. in a pharmacology-related field and a track record of professional achievement such as publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts and obtaining competitive funding that is commensurate with experience. We welcome applications from candidates with academic or industry backgrounds.
