Role summary
The School of Engineering at the University of Birmingham seeks to recruit outstanding Civil Engineers for the role of Assistant Professor in Advanced Engineering Management (Teaching focused) to be based at the University of Birmingham, Dubai campus. The development and opening of our Dubai Campus in the Autumn of 2018 marked us out as the first global top 100 and Russell Group University to establish a campus in Dubai. Initially, we are offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including Economics, Teacher Education, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Business. Over the next ten years, our ambition is to grow the University of Birmingham Dubai to around 4,500 students studying a full range of programmes and establish an active research programme.
As an Assistant Professor, you will make a substantial contribution to the management, development and delivery of teaching and assessment at all levels relating to Civil Engineering, whilst enhancing the student experience and employability. Through excellent teaching, you will inspire students, be informed by discipline-based research, and contribute to the management and administration of the Department in Dubai.
Academic Development Programme - new Assistant Professors will undertake a 5-year development programme, at the end of which they are expected to be promoted to Associate Professor. The programme consists of a variety of development opportunities and the time to reflect and develop.
