The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences wishes to recruit a confident and experienced individual for the role of Associate Dean: Research and Knowledge Exchange.
The Faculty brings together the academic disciplines of Life Sciences, Psychology, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Paramedic Science, as well as Sport and Exercise Science, Coaching, Social Work and a vibrant programme of CPD activities particularly for the health disciplines. Across our teaching portfolio we support around 4000 students at both undergraduate and post-graduate level and we have a vibrant research culture. We are based at the Headington Campus (Gipsy Lane and Marston Road) as well as on our campus in Swindon, all of which encompass academic offices, teaching rooms as well as extensive lab facilities.
As Associate Dean RKE you will be part of the Faculty’s Executive Team and work closely with the PVC/Dean and the PVC Research and International Partnerships to support the delivery of the University and Faculty research strategies. You will be responsible for the Faculty’s research budget and together with the Faculty’s research leads, UoA coordinators and Heads of Department, support and expand the research and KE activity in the Faculty. Together with the Associate Deans RKE from the other three Faculties in the University, you will contribute to the implementation of the wider strategies for the development of research, innovation and knowledge exchange activities across the University. You will also be expected to carry out research in your area of interest in the expectation that this research will have internationally recognised outputs and a good record of grant capture.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of research leadership and management. You will have a good understanding of the contemporary policy issues in HE relating to research, innovation and knowledge exchange and will be comfortable to operate within a complex and changing environment and to motivate and lead by influence.
We welcome applications from suitably qualified applicants whatever their background, especially candidates from black and ethnic minority backgrounds as they are currently under-represented in our workforce.
For informal enquiries and to discuss the role in more detail please contact the current Interim Associate Dean RKE, Prof. Paul Carding (
