The School of Health and Social Care draws together many health disciplines: Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science, Healthcare Science, Osteopathy, Health and Social Care, Social Work, Public Health and Healthcare Management and is the largest provider of health care education in Wales, providing an exciting and dynamic environment in which to study and further an academic or professional career. Many of these programmes are ranked in the top 5 in the UK (National Student Survey, 2021). The School’s mission is to provide excellent teaching and conduct high quality international research that meets the needs of the people of south-west Wales and beyond. To support and enhance the teaching of our future healthcare professionals, the University has invested in a state-of-the-art Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre in which our students can learn together in a creative and safe environment, supported by expert practitioners drawn from our academic community and clinical practice.

To complement our diverse and experienced of healthcare professionals, the School of Health and Social Care is seeking to add to its existing group of staff following the University’s teaching-focused career pathway. The post-holder will work alongside our established team of healthcare professionals across Adult, Child, Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing as well as a range of other health professionals’ programmes.

We are looking for an individual who is an experienced Nurse and can significantly enhance our student learning experience through teaching and continuing development of the Certificate in Health Care Studies curriculum.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will help to strengthen the links between our various programmes of study and our key stakeholders and HEIW. The teaching staff team will share and promote good practice in teaching and aim to develop innovations in teaching methods to engage and inspire students.

The post:

The part time, Certificate in Health Care Studies, is situated in the School of Health and Social Care in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science (FMHLS). This programme is designed for Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs) who are working in nursing environments. It is a composite programme which comprises of theory and practice learning. Close integration between the students and the Faculty is a priority and there will be regular teaching at our St. David’s Park campus in Carmarthen, Parc Campus Swansea University  alongside learning in the students own clinical area.

A satisfactory DBS certificate must be provided before a start date can be confirmed
