The Liverpool Law School seeks to appoint a permanent academic (Teaching and Scholarship) post to support the work of the Law Clinic and provide teaching and supervision to Law students on the LLB degree. The post is to continue and develop our social welfare advice work: applicants must have demonstrable experience and expertise in practice (as a barrister or solicitor) in one of the following: immigration/asylum/nationality (and an interest in ‘out of scope’ immigration cases), housing, welfare benefits, employment, family or community care.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop their own scholarship. Scholarship includes any independent or collaborative projects aimed at generating new knowledge and methods to solve real world problems, or to develop and share innovative approaches to pedagogy with a view to enhancing the student experience/Law Clinic practice.
The successful candidate will be employed as an in-house solicitor/employed barrister and will have conduct of the cases on which students work, advising members of the public on a non-charging basis.
The work of the practitioners in the Clinic is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board. The successful candidate will either hold a current practising certificate or provide evidence that you are entitled to obtain one (e.g. an email from the SRA or BSB to this effect, confirming you are on the roll).
