We are looking for a candidate with a strong track record in teaching and research, with a clear plan that articulates with and enhances our existing activities. The appointee will be expected to contribute to specialised teaching in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Computer-Aided Design and Renewable Energy, as well as to the delivery of highquality projects, skills instruction, and training. They will be expected to contribute to Research and Development through collaborative projects, securing appropriate funding, engaging in knowledge-exchange activities and publication of high-quality research outputs.

Your priorities will include:

  • To deliver high-quality and innovative teaching across a range of modules, providing curriculum leadership within own area of expertise
  • To be responsible for the design and quality of course modules in specialist areas of Mechanical Engineering
  • To supervise and examine Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students
  • To establish a research portfolio and regularly publish research findings through leading peer-reviewed international publications

Who we’re looking for:

  • PhD in a relevant subject
  • Ability to teach across a range of Mechanical Engineering subjects, in particular Solid Mechanics, Computer Aided Engineering using Finite Element Analysis, Computer Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics
  • Evidence of research of internationally excellent quality, preferably in Materials Science and Engineering with applications to either environment sustainability or healthcare and quality of life
  • Ambitious research plans that are aligned to the School’s research strategy and will be competitive for UK or international funding streams, and/or for industrial funding mechanisms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others
