We are now seeking to appoint a Head of the School of Chemistry, a leading chemistry school with a clear mission to tackle the important scientific challenges of the 21st century. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor International and Student Recruitment and Head of College of Physical Sciences and Engineering, the new Head of School will build on strong academic foundations and oversee the delivery of excellent education and student experience, foster leading research that matters globally, and inspire an inclusive culture for students and staff.

Candidates will have exceptional leadership and management capabilities alongside an outstanding academic record in a relevant field. They will be outstanding communicators who can inspire, lead and motivate colleagues across the School. Crucially, they will be able to lead change and deliver against the strategic priorities of the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering and the wider University. A demonstrable commitment to nurturing an inclusive environment for students and staff is essential, alongside a personal commitment to the core principles of opportunity, openness, transparency and respect for all.

Location: Cardiff

Salary: Cardiff University will offer an attractive salary, commensurate with experience, for a highly talented postholder in this role. Cardiff offers 37 days per annum of annual leave, and a USS pension. Relocation expenses (up to a maximum of £8,000) will be available for candidates moving to Cardiff.

The role is full time for up to 5 years (with the possibility of a further term of 3 years). The role carries a non-pensionable allowance.
