About the role
This exciting new role will lead the emerging Teaching Expertise Development (TED) team within Bath Spa’s ‘Learning Innovation & Skills’ service. This team provides professional learning opportunities relating to curriculum design and pedagogy for all staff who teach, including the use of digital technologies. The role will work closely with the Higher Education Practice team who deliver the PGCert and HEA Fellowship scheme. In addition, the Head of TED will have an active role in supporting this professional learning and enhancement of teaching through working with programme teams in curriculum design and review, creating resources and guidance, enabling networking and sharing of practice, and promoting and contributing to the scholarship of teaching & learning. The role is based on campus with the opportunity for hybrid working.
About you (requirements)
You will be an experienced educational / academic developer with excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of working effectively and collaboratively to support the enhancement of learning and teaching in higher education. You will hold SFHEA and/or SFSEDA and have evidence of leadership, scholarship and impact.
Bath Spa University is focused on creative enterprise and guided by our four values of respect, inclusivity, collaboration and sustainability. We teach around 8,000 students on a set of campuses around Bath, with most being located at Newton Park, including a listed Georgian house and grounds, or Locksbrook Road, our new city-centre art and design campus. Our research centres focus on creative industries and humanities.
Our purpose is to challenge our students and staff to realise their talent and thrive, for their own benefit and for the wider good. By doing this we will think and make the world better.
Learning Innovation & Skills is a newly formed professional service comprising the existing Schools Technical Service and the Writing & Learning Centre plus the new Teaching Expertise Development team. Bringing this wide range of support for teaching and learning together is enabling exciting new collaborations and opportunities for enhancement across the institution and beyond.
