Are you interested in working for a world top 100 university?
Modern Languages provision is at the heart of a strong Arts and Humanities faculty portfolio. The University is committed to its continued success and future sustainability and views languages as a vital aspect of the University’s vision and commitment to being a truly global and diverse organisation. The University has recently undergone an exciting and strategic change programme to further strengthen language provision at Sheffield, in order to sustain and enhance our position as a leading provider of languages education in the UK whilst delivering a high-quality experience for all our students.
The Director of the Modern Languages Teaching Centre (MLTC) is an exciting opportunity to provide transformational leadership as you will play a key role in continuing to develop the languages provision within a world-leading, globally recognised university, enabling you to influence the direction of education in languages across the organisation.
As such, we expect the successful candidate to have an excellent understanding of the challenges facing modern languages education across the HE sector and have the ability to think innovatively to identify and take advantage of opportunities as they arise. Sheffield is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the world today. We therefore expect the new postholder to bring a passion and talent for collaboration and partnership, alongside a strong commitment to promoting the importance of languages in today's society. Finally, you will be expected to lead by example in terms of demonstrating strong leadership, promoting academic citizenship, commitment to teaching and fostering a culture of mentorship and progression.
This post will report to the Vice President and Head of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
