Do you have a keen interest in tech, excellent organisational skills, and find enjoyment in taking on new challenges? We are seeking an experienced logistical coordinator who is ready for a new and exciting challenge as we launch our new on-site IT Store.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active, self-motivated and experienced individual to join us as we begin a new chapter in IT hardware supply and asset management at the University of Edinburgh.

The official job title for this role will be IT Hardware Supply Officer, but the post-holder will require organisational, administrative, and logistical skills in addition to a passion for keeping up with the latest and greatest in technology. We need someone who understands product lifecycles and hardware roadmaps and will be able to apply that knowledge to our purchasing trends.

You will have demonstrable experience of budgeting, planning, and forecasting, preferably in large, complex multi-stakeholder enterprise environments. You will play a vital role liaising with internal customers and stakeholders in University Services Groups, Schools and Colleges: providing information and support on purchasing hardware and peripherals, and leading on logistics, delivery mechanisms, and coordinating on-site pick-ups. You will have the opportunity to help us plan and reshape current processes in order to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and responsiveness.

Experience in inventory management and stock control, as well as IT Asset Management would be advantageous. Awareness and experience of Hardware Asset Management would be beneficial as would technical skills to provision systems for end-users, but training will be provided where required. Understanding of change management and competence in ITIL framework is desired but not essential.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A pro-active and forward-thinking approach to your duties and responsibilities
  • Evidence of excellent organisational skills, written and oral communication skills, and ability to form effective business relationships
  • Proven ability to plan and strategise effectively, considering outside factors such as global supply in your approach
  • A record of successful accomplishment in budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience of working with senior decision makers and stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of successfully managing ITS related stock
