The Institute for Lifecourse Development (ILD) is an interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Greenwich. The ILD comprises seven research centres, bringing together research and practitioner staff from across disciplines to foreground, consolidate and grow cross-professional and cross-disciplinary work and develop lifecourse focused research and knowledge exchange activities that directly resonate with our stakeholders, communities and partners, and that address societal challenges and have significant impact. Our current centres focus on these key interrelated areas:

  • Inequalities
  • Workforce Development
  • Chronic Illness and Aging
  • Thinking and learning
  • Mental health
  • Vulnerable Children and Families
  • Exercise and Rehabilitation

The Role

We are specifically looking for researchers whose interests and expertise lie in areas relevant to Centres within the Institute and are looking to appoint a leading international figure with the ability to enhance world-class research in the Institute and its Centres who can work with and across one or more of our key areas. Applicants should have an already outstanding track record of substantial external funding and world leading publications, evidence of significant academic and ‘real-world’ impact, and experience of managing large-scale interdisciplinary projects involving academics and practitioners. In addition, applicants should be committed to working with colleagues to develop genuinely innovative approaches to research, knowledge exchange and practice.

The ILD’s key shared objectives are to:

  • Focus on vulnerable populations across the lifecourse
  • Deliver theoretical and methodological innovation in research
  • Create collaborative interdisciplinary teams and a vibrant and inclusive research environment
  • Communicate with users of research to create impact
  • Create new professional solutions that improve people's lives
  • Develop high‐level academic training and continuing professional development
  • Connect globally, building deeper relationships with partners, funders, and sponsors.

The role is available immediately on a full-time, permanent basis.
