We have an opportunity for a senior technician to join our research team to assist with the delivery of objectives of our project that aims to develop a non-invasive diagnostic test for pregnancy loss in the mare. The postholder will be responsible for day to day running of the project including working with collaborating veterinary surgeons and mare owners to obtain and process clinical tissues and records, performing ELISA assays and DNA isolation as well as analysis and reporting of results back to the research team. The post would be well suited to a technician who has prior experience working in a laboratory, is highly motivated, comfortable working both independently and in a team and well-organised.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of HNC in a relevant subject as well as considerable work experience in a laboratory with molecular assays (e.g. ELISA and DNA isolation) and independently managing projects. Candidates should be self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills to enable them to communicate with a broad group of stakeholders.
The end date for the project is 31st August 2026, this post will be a three year fixed term post. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
