JOB OVERVIEW

At the University of Huddersfield International Centre, we take pride in delivering a supportive and enriching learning experience that equips our students with the necessary skills and knowledge for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. In this role, you will deliver our Law provision, teaching groups of international students across our Level 3 and  Level 4 programmes. Our overall goal is to provide excellent academic and English language proficiency that will enable our students to succeed in their chosen programme of study and pursue a successful career. Our academic team is committed to a collaborative approach to Teaching and Learning, working together to plan, deliver, and assess our programmes and modules. We prioritize our students by placing them at the heart of everything we do. ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Plan appropriate, effective, and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversity.
  • Select the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progress.
  • Contribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the Centres’ Health and Safety procedures.
  • Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and application to their studies by individual conversations with students, referrals to progress coaches or where appropriate, senior management.
  • Support students with action planning to improve academic performance and achieve aspirational targets.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the well-being of students in your care. Refer to support services where appropriate.
  • Contribute to effective communication. (parents, sponsors, University etc.)
  • Be aware of and comply with all Centre quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material (including VLE content) programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviews.
  • Engage in professional development to improve teaching and learning practice and update subject specialist knowledge.
  • Participate in the development of the VLE and contribute subject knowledge for the development of materials for Law modules.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Cert Ed, PCET or PGCE teaching qualification (working towards, or willing to achieve)
  • Qualified to Degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  • Desirable Postgraduate qualification in a related field.
  • Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at levels 3 and 4.
  • Thorough subject knowledge of Law including related fields in Business Studies: Marketing and Finance.
  • Experience in teaching International Students
  • Experience in supporting students in a pastoral role
  • Experience in developing learning and teaching through digital learning platforms.
