Advert Text

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

The Estates Services has a growing responsibility for Facilities Management throughout the University’s estate. Historically, FM has been largely organised locally, by occupying departments. The benefits of a strategic approach to FM are now more widely recognised, however, significant opportunities to develop and improve still remain.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the implementation of the full FM soft landings methodology across all new sites, including new build capital projects and major refurbishments. The role will also support existing sites joining the central FM service and the implementation of projects to strategically progress the aims of the FM function.

What We Offer

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

  • An excellent contributory pension scheme
  • 38 days annual leave
  • A comprehensive range of childcare services
  • Family leave schemes
  • Cycle loan scheme
  • Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
  • Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs

This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working.

About the Role

The successful candidate will join the newly formed FM Projects business unit team, within Strategic FM. The role’s remit will develop but will include management and facilitation of projects to improve processes and services delivered by the wider FM team.

As further detailed in the Job Description the role will play an integral part in providing guidance for implementation of the University’s Soft Landings Strategy and FM Design Philosophy for new builds and major refurbishments.

An important aspect to the role is to discuss and practically manage how FM managed building services may be implemented for interested Departments. Also representing and promoting the wider services that may be of benefit from FM Contracts, Shared Services and OUEV.

About You

You will have a Facilities Management background with significant management experience, and be looking to utilise this in a strategic role with a focus on the importance of our people, continuous improvement, and the best possible service delivery to our customers and stakeholders.

You will be confident in assessing and providing guidance on best practice, in relation to Facilities Management services, structures and associated building operations. With the ability to clearly communicate in a way which is adapted to the needs of the customer.

You will have the ability to understand and navigate the complexities of a diverse range of customers in a public sector setting and be able to balance the multiple priorities with tact and sound judgement.

Application Process

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

Only applications received before 12:00 noon on Monday 17 April 2023 can be considered.

Interviews will take place during week commencing 1 May 2023 and will be in person.
