The Department for Health at the University of Bath has an exciting new opportunity available for a Policy and Knowledge Exchange Lead to join the team.
About the role
Your role will be to work in consultation with Tobacco Control Research Group’s (TCRG) strategic leadership team and develop and implement a plan to increase the reach and awareness of and secure diverse impacts from the work of the TCRG (including its work on tobacco and beyond) and the wider research groupings in which it participates including the Beacon for 21st Century Public Health.
These impacts will include but not be limited to policy change.
You will have experience of translating research into action and the ability to engage with the media and stakeholders across multiple sectors, including at high level. This plan should reflect both the REF (ie impact) and KEF agendas at the University of Bath.
TCRG is a multidisciplinary, international research group at the University of Bath. Our work focuses on the commercial determinants of health. We specifically examine how major corporations influence health and policy; evaluate the impacts of policy change on health; and provide evidence to inform the development of new policy.
This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.
For informal discussions about the role please contact Phil Chamberlain on pcc49@bath.ac.uk or Prof Anna Gilmore on abcg20@bath.a.uk
About us
TCRG is based in the University’s Department for Health and is led by Professor Anna Gilmore. As a group and individually, we have received awards for our research and its impacts on policy from organisations including WHO and the Public Health Advocacy Institute. We are committed to ensuring our work is relevant to policy and practice, and we have secured impacts from national to global level.
We work in partnership with others to seek maximum impact for our work. We are part of STOP, a global tobacco industry watchdog whose mission is to expose the tobacco industry tactics that undermine public health. Comprised of a network of academic and public health organisations, STOP researches and monitors the tobacco industry, shares intelligence to counter its tactics, and exposes its misdeeds to a global audience. STOP is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies as part of the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use (BI). TCRG is a BI partner.
We are part of the SPECTRUM, (Shaping Public Health Policies to Reduce Inequalities and Harm) research consortium, leading the work package on understanding and addressing unhealthy commodity industry influence.
TCRG is also a key part of a broader University initiative, the Bath Beacon for 21st Century Public Health, part of the University’s growing focus on public health research.
