Job Overview

As Principal Architect you will review, interpret, and respond to detailed business requirements, ensuring that a service can technically deliver business needs. You will provide recommendations into the agreed UKRI enterprise architecture, with key responsibility for cloud solutions and all its interdependencies with other business solutions. You will use your experience to provide guidance on the development, testing and implementation of technical solutions and report on delivery commitments to ensure solutions are implemented as expected and to agreed timeframes.

Key responsibilities

  • You will be accountability for the solution architecture of some UKRI cloud services and its interdependencies with other organisational systems such as a data warehouse, finance systems, and integrations with other business solutions.
  • You will play the lead architect role on a project team working closely with the Product Manager and Delivery Manager advising on overall solution and technical aspects of the project to ensure any issues are uncovered and resolved quickly.
  • You will work closely alongside technical development teams to ensure that they are implementing solutions in keeping with your design.
  • You will attend the daily stand up ceremonies as a way of keeping open lines of communication with the development team members and ensuring that decisions are in line with your overall design.

About you

  • Educated to Degree-level or equivalent
  • Be familiar with modern microservice architectures and able to design solutions which use these to deliver solutions which meet user needs
  • Be aware of and understand agile methodology and how to apply the agile approach to all aspects of your work.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast paced, evolving environment and utilises an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery
  • Be capable of collaboratively investigating, analysing and solving complex problems and concepts and make disciplined decisions based on available information
