An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Chair/Reader/Senior lecturer in Public Health within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition and in partnership with the NHS Grampian (NHSG) Directorate of Public Health. The position will have responsibilities as the Clinical Lead of the Grampian Data Safe Haven and a leadership role in the Aberdeen Centre for Health Data Science (ACHDS) which sits within the School’s Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS).
The creation of this post has been led by the University together with the NHSG Directorate of Public Health who have identified as a priority the appointment of a senior academic in their field who can add capacity in health data science and public health research leadership, publication, projects and outputs.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide high standards of research and academic leadership and should therefore already have an internationally recognised record in independent research as well as relevant clinical qualifications and experience. A contribution to the teaching portfolio associated with Public Health, Health Data Science and related areas is required. The appointment will carry honorary consultant status, with appropriate clinical duties undertaken within the Public Health Directorate, in particular providing public health and data science leadership in our innovative and growing NHS Health Intelligence team.
The NHS and the University will fund 5 and 6 sessions respectively. A job plan will be agreed between the Director of Public Health and the Head of School.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical scale for Staff holding honorary Consultant contracts, £91,474 - £121,548 (Medical Consultant), or £94,629 - £98,384 (AfC Consultant), per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
