About us
The Centre for Languages & International Education is a centre of excellence for teaching and learning at Institute of Education (IOE) specialising in academic communication, pedagogy and student support from Pre-degree up to Doctoral level across all UCL Faculties. At pre-undergraduate and pre-graduate level, in close liaison with UCL Faculties, CLIE develops international students’ academic, linguistic and study skills across a portfolio of courses to enable successful academic transition between diverse education systems. CLIE also offers a range of enterprise activities, for example overseas consultancies, partnerships, specialist summer courses and CPD evening courses. CLIE is BALEAP (British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes) accredited.
About the role
Reporting to the Director, the post holder will be responsible for the development, delivery and management of all academic aspects of the CLIE Pre-sessional programmes to enable graduate students to develop core academic, research and independent study skills in their chosen disciplines and improve English language proficiency. The Pre-sessional is a key driver within the CLIE having the most development both academically and financially. It is significant institutionally supporting international UCL offer holders in meeting their offers. In preparing future global citizens for success within their faculty through a high quality, high demand graduate programme.
About you
The successful candidate will be expected to devise the over-arching academic framework for the Pre-sessional, ensuring alignment with key UCL strategic themes and objectives, lead a senior team on the design, development and delivery of the programme and manage the development of individual modules in line with the over-arching academic framework. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience. They will therefore have a track record of delivering appropriate teaching to a high quality.
