We are seeking to appoint an experienced administrator to manage the day-to-day running of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health. Reporting to the Faculty Operating Officer and accountable to the Head of Department, the Department Manager will oversee the department finances, research projects, staffing and space. The Department Manager is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of department, faculty and school policy and procedure at departmental level.
The Department of Infectious Diseases will be splitting into two departments and this is a new position to manage the administration of one of the newly created departments
The post-holder will line manage administrative and project staff, and have an oversight of the administration needs of the department, working closely with the Head of Department to ensure an excellent service is provided. The department has a varied and dynamic research portfolio and research groups are supported by a large team of project support staff. Within this environment the ideal candidate will have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide clear direction in supporting and developing administrative staff. The ability to think ahead and demonstrate effective problem solving skills is essential, as is the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks and a challenging workload. This is a permanent position at 1 FTE and is available immediately. Salary will be on LSHTM’s Professional Support Pathway Grade 6 scale, £42,875 - £48,691, depending on qualifications and experience. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
