This is an exciting opportunity for two experienced Epidemiologists/ Bioinformaticians to join the Ageing Epidemiology (AGE) Research Unit, and work on either the CHARIOT PRO or eFINGER PRINT studies, in two posts funded by the National Institute of Health Research Applied Research Collaborations (ARC). CHARIOT PRO is prospective longitudinal, biomarker and data – enriched study of cognitively healthy individuals, at baseline, aiming to evaluate key biological mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) development. e-FINGER PRINT is a population-based study for ADRD prevention, includes piloting of innovative e-interventions for self-led lifestyle strategies targeting key domains identified through the Finish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability (FINGER): diet, physical activity, cognitive training, vascular and metabolic risk factors control, and social engagement. The post-holders will work with rich state-of-the-art data and can make a genuine contribution to the fight against dementia.
Duties and responsibilities
Essential requirements
You will have a PhD or equivalent in Epidemiology, Statistics, Computational Science, Biomedical sciences, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Psychology or a closely related quantitative discipline and a strong understanding of neurodegenerative disease, omics and molecular mechanisms, data management, computational and presentation skills. You will have experience of working in epidemiological studies, experience of using multivariate models to screen high-dimensional data and interest in dementia prevention.
