The role
The University of Exeter Clinical Trials Unit (ExeCTU) is seeking medical/trial statisticians, with opportunities from graduate-level research assistant through to research fellow level. This post within ExeCTU is available from May 2023 on an open-ended basis subject to funding.
Working as part of the experienced ExeCTU team, the post holder will provide statistical support to the research projects being managed by ExeCTU and other research within the Department of Health & Community Sciences: https://medicine.exeter.ac.uk/research/healthandcommunitysciences/.
Graduate Research Assistant and Postdoctoral Research Associate
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, and contribute to preparation of research reports and publications, including reports to external bodies. In addition to this, the post-holder will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline, and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. The post-holder will provide statistical support to the research projects being managed by ExeCTU and other research within the Department of Health and Community Sciences.
Graduate Research Assistants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience.
Postdoctoral Research Associates will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Working as part of ExeCTU, the successful applicant will work with senior statisticians to provide expert statistical support for research projects within the Department of Health & Community Sciences. The post-holder will provide high-quality statistical input to a range of research applications/projects/activities and work on a variety of study types, including randomised controlled trials, cluster randomised trials and meta-analyses. The post-holder will also participate in methodological research studies addressing statistical challenges.
In addition, the post-holder may also contribute to teaching statistics on undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses and /or running statistics teaching for researchers. The post-holder may also participate in running statistics clinics to provide statistical support to Faculty researchers and PhD students.
Opportunities are available at graduate research assistant, postdoctoral research associate and research fellow levels, with duties and accountabilities dependent on the grade of the post.
