Each full-time successful candidate will be offered a studentship to start in either September 2023 or January 2024.  A bursary of £17,680 per annum will be paid by the school, for three years subject to satisfactory progress. There is a possibility for the studentships to be awarded to applicants to our new distance learning PhD programme.

As a doctoral student you can transform your future through undertaking rigorous and creative research training with recognised methodological and subject experts to become an independent researcher. You will be a valued member of our supportive, vibrant, diverse and inclusive research community and thriving research centres. You will have an opportunity to develop life-long networks, produce journal articles with supervisors and engage in some teaching, if desired.

The Centre for Diversity Policy Research and Practice (CDPRP) specialises in interdisciplinary research on equality, diversity and inclusion in organisations, the economy, and society. CDPRP has received external funding from a range of sources such as Horizon 2020, the British Council, and the EPSRC. The expertise of our researchers spans diversity management and organisational change; inclusive innovation and enterprise; socio-legal approaches to equality; and data in relation to gender and diversity. Staff at CDPRP are currently involved in research projects seeking to promote gender institutional change, gender-based violence as a manifestation of gender inequalities, and gender and diversity in the context of entrepreneurship and innovation. Our research is published widely in academic journals and project reports. PhD students have the opportunity to participate in the Centre’s events, as well as those organised as part of the OBBS doctoral programmes.

These are highly competitive applications, applicants are expected to hold a good undergraduate degree and a Master’s degree at merit level or above, in a relevant area.  Applicants should demonstrate strong research capabilities and be fluent in spoken and written English. This bursary will be awarded against the quality of the research proposal and the ability to complete within the three year funded period.
