We are looking to appoint a high achieving historian to join our exceptionally successful History Department. The History Department currently comprises of nine specialist teachers, with additional support from teachers in the Politics and Geography departments. The History curriculum concentrations on power in the Middle Ages during Year 7, differences in belief during the Early Modern period in Year 8 and the study of the Twentieth century in Europe and beyond, in Year 9. History is a popular choice at GCSE, following the OCR B(SHP) course. Junior and Middle School History Society groups meet regularly, along with a thriving Senior History Society and History seminar and UCAS groups in the Sixth Form. The department follows the OCR specification for A Level and the topics taught stretch over a wide period of British, European and American history from the eleventh to the twelfth century. The successful candidate will have the capacity to inspire pupils of all ability and enhance pupil learning, work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues and share the values that define the school community.
