The School of Mechanical Engineering at Coventry University is seeking to recruit project supervisors who are subject specialists within the field of Engineering Management and/or Engineering Project Management and/or Logistics/Supply Chain Management to supplement its full-time staff. In particular, we are looking for staff to support Post Graduate project supervision.
We are interested in supplementing the subject areas of Engineering Management, Project Management, Quality Management, Finance, Engineering Strategy, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Lean and Agile, Entrepreneurship, Industry 4.0, Assorted Manufacturing Processes, Automation, Robotics and some elements of Materials.
These project supervisor posts are part-time and temporary, initially for the period June 2023 to the end January 2024, although it may be possible for the posts to extend beyond that period.
The exact nature of the project supervision position will include the following activities:
• Hold regular Teams meetings to discuss the project proposal and key ideas/objectives and ethical issues.
• Provide up to 12 hours of supervision.
• Provide chapter reviews.
• Provide responses to ad-hoc academic queries within 2 working days in relation to their project via email.
• Act as first marker for the project, agree on a provisional grade and provide final feedback for students.
• Act as marker an 2nd marker
• Availability to attend relevant (limited) training round CU PG student supervision
• Availability to meet students on site in person but a percentage of the supervision can be undertaken via TEAMS.
Training in supervision will be provided for all applicants.
Project supervision is paid at the specific rate per project and this rate includes the weekly supervision meetings with the student and associated marking.
Applicants should hold at least a Masters degree in Engineering Management, Engineering Project Management or Logistics/Supply Chain Management or a related subject and be based in the UK. Applicants with substantial professional experience with professional qualifications and/or membership in a professional body will also be considered. Experience of working in higher education will be very useful.
