About the Role
The Language Centre within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Lecturer in Applied Linguistics.
The post is part-time (0.3 FTE) and fixed-term from 01 July 2023 to 30 June 2029, available through research funding to cover staff absence and teaching replacement for Prof Nelya Koteyko who has received research project funding through Wellcome Discovery Award. The successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Applied Linguistics as well as contribute to the intellectual life of the School / Institute and wider institution and make contributions to student education and experience.
Duties will include convening and teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate modules, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. You will be required to carry out student assessment and marking, cooperate with relevant colleagues, and contribute to the long-term development of the modules to ensure that they meet QA standards.
In addition, you will make a contribution to the long-term development of the Language Centre to ensure that it is appropriately positioned to enhance students’ success, and will make innovations in key aspects of teaching and learning, including the design of materials, new modules and/or options.
About You
You will hold a PhD in English Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or a related subject, or a relevant professional qualification or equivalent professional experience, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, and good organisational and communicative skills, are also essential.

The post is part-time (0.3 FTE), fixed-term appointment with an expected start date of 01 July 2023 until 30 June 2029. The starting salary will be Grade 5 per annum at £45,931 (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
