Applications are invited to the above role which will have specific responsibility for investigating the effect of host restriction factors on filovirus and arenavirus entry. The position will be based in the Wolfson Centre for Global Virus Research, QMC laboratories and the School of Life Sciences.
The person appointed will be expected to (i) interact with the researchers at Nottingham to plan and conduct research using virus pseudotype assays and transient expression systems to monitor the effectiveness of innate restriction factors, such as Tetherin and IFITM on virus entry (ii) interact in a professional manner and work safely to deadlines; and (iii) report regularly in the form of formal written reports and oral presentation.
This position requires experience working with lentivirus and/or retrovirus psuedotype assays, performing and interpreting enzyme immunoassays and Western blot assays. It would be very advantageous to have experience in protein expression.
The post is offered on a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract until 30 September 2023. Job share arrangements may be considered.
