Queen Mary Innovation (QMI) is QMUL’s wholly owned technology transfer company. QMI is responsible for the commercialization and management of the University’s intellectual property and portfolio of spinout companies. To support the 2030 Strategy, QMI is entering a new phase of growth, recruiting a larger team to make a bigger Impact in taking innovations developed in QMUL to the marketplace. About the Role
An experienced professional is required to join the Technology and Engineering team in QMI to manage the commercialisation of intellectual property arising from the research base of Queen Mary University of London. This position requires an in-depth knowledge and extensive experience of intellectual property protection and exploitation through technology licensing and new spinout company formation. In this role you will work from initial technology disclosure to deal completion, with an emphasis on seeking high value partners for licensing and investors for our early-stage spin-out opportunities.
About You
You will have a strong background in science or engineering, including bio-engineering, medical technologies or digital health, with experience in technology transfer in higher education, or equivalent experience in the private sector. You will also have strong project management and communications skills, be a proactive self-starter, a strong negotiator and preferably have a proven track record in deal completion. Experience of early-stage company formation would also be a benefit. Candidates with experience in computer science, electrical engineering or materials science are particularly encouraged to apply.

The team is mainly based at the University Enterprise Zone in Whitechapel London but with frequent visits to the different sites in QMUL. We offer hybrid working and the role will be based on site usually 2-3 days a week (more if preferred). It is a full time, permanent appointment. The starting salary will be in the range of £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, inclusive of London Allowance.
