The Head of Media is the IDEA Lab’s senior media production manager in the Digital Education team, overseeing the development of all media content for the Business School’s suite of online and blended programmes. The post comprises multiple aspects, including creative direction of all media production streams, process and workflow optimisation, team planning and management, media procurement and facilities management, the development of novel solutions and overall responsibility for large volumes of production involving multiple stakeholders. Successful candidates will have strong stakeholder management, project management and communication skills. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing and collaborative team, in order to support the delivery of the Edtech Lab’s strategy
  • Manage the media facility and associated tools and workflows
  • Oversee the development of all media assets for the Business School, ensuring all projects are completed on time and to specification, following the overall pedagogical approach
  • Provide instructional media insight to determine the best media approach for subject matter
  • Assist in the review and evaluation of the effectiveness of instructional media across the Lab’s portfolio
  • Contribute towards annual planning and budgetary priorities for the Media Team
  • Explore new opportunities to use media to enhance the student experience.

Essential requirements

  • Educated to postgraduate degree level (or equivalent), preferably in the fields of film production, cinematography, visual arts
  • Proven experience as a Head of Media or Production in a similar role
  • A track record of excellent stakeholder engagement, team management and talent development
  • Detailed knowledge of workflows, scaled media storage and scalable production workflows
  • Strong background in film and audio-visual production with particular knowledge of Business content
  • Demonstrable video editing skills with a strong portfolio, including a solid experience with video software packages such as Premiere Pro.
  • Understanding of digital transformation, pedagogical thought and the wider processes and constraints around online and blended teaching.

This is a full time, permanent post.

All appointments will normally be made at the bottom of the salary range.
