The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a leading research-intensive university https://nus.edu.sg/ that is consistently ranked among the world’s top universities. The Department of Psychology at NUS https://fass.nus.edu.sg/psy/ has well-established undergraduate, graduate research, and graduate clinical psychology professional training programmes. The Department consists of an internationally diverse group of faculty members who are committed to excellence in research, teaching, and clinical practice.

We seek applicants for a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology position (Educator-Track) to join us in December 2023. The Department at this time specifically aims to strengthen professional teaching in the NUS Clinical Psychology Programme, hence all successful applicants must have a doctoral-level qualification in clinical psychology and be registered and/or licenced to practice in their home countries. Established clinical practice experience, academic teaching in a higher education establishment, and prior experience in providing clinical supervision are highly desirable. Further experience in post-doctoral clinical research, or in supervision of clinically applied research projects, would be advantageous.

Campus visits and interviews will likely take place in August 2023 in the NUS Department of Psychology. Shortlisted applicants must be available for campus visits during the specified period. The Department will not accommodate any requests for rescheduling of the campus visit dates. Remote online campus visits for overseas candidates will be considered.

Applicants should submit the following documents online, by clicking the 'Apply' button.

  • Full CV, including education, professional background, teaching, clinical supervision, research activities and achievements, and service accomplishments to date.
  • Name and contact details of doctoral thesis advisor/supervisor.
  • A Preface (maximum 300 words) that makes the case for your appointment. This should be a highly distilled summary of your key contributions to clinical practice, student learning, and education, guided by your teaching and clinical philosophies.
  • A Teaching Statement (maximum 3,000 words) that focuses on evidence of student learning and educational leadership (if applicable). It should articulate your contributions across multiple domains of teaching practice (instruction, clinical and research supervision, student assessment, and course design). Evidence of educational and/or clinical leadership can exemplify how you influence peers and others in their teaching and/or clinical practice. Where applicable, you may also briefly explain how your research and service contributions enhance your academic teaching abilities.
  • Teaching evaluations and, if applicable, peer review reports. Other evidence of teaching excellence is welcome.
  • Examples of taught module outlines, samples of teaching materials and assessment tasks, if available.
  • ONE letter of reference from the applicant’s doctoral thesis supervisor, to be arranged by the applicant to be submitted directly by the supervisor to Ms. Rosalind Chek (email: psycflr@nus.edu.sg).
  • THREE letters of reference (excluding letter from the applicant’s PhD supervisor) to be arranged by the applicant to be submitted directly by the referees to Ms. Rosalind Chek (email: psycflr@nus.edu.sg).

Submission of application closes on 30 June 2023. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified. Previous applicants need not apply.

Informal enquiries about the vacancy should be directed to Dr Pawel Mankiewicz, Chair of the Search Committee and Deputy Director of Clinical Psychology Programme, at dr.pawel@nus.edu.sg.
