Harold and Judith Rosenberg Chair in Quantum Technology
Applications are invited for a Professorship and Endowed Chair in Experimental Quantum Technology within the Department of Physics at the University of Strathclyde. Through the will of Mrs Judith Rosenberg, a friend of the University, (https://www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/19045390.obituary-scotlands-last-survivor-auschwitz/) we are able to create this professorial position and establish a named laboratory.
The University of Strathclyde has established a position as a leading international centre for Quantum Technology research and innovation, covering activities from fundamental and applied research through to technology development and industrialisation. It is our stated aim to create and nurture a vibrant and internationally competitive cluster of research and innovation based on Quantum Physics. We are committed to creating the translational ecosystem required to develop, test, validate and demonstrate disruptive quantum technologies, and respond to current and future market demand.
The position will extend and complement the Department’s existing strong theoretical, computational and experimental research programmes in the area. The position will be based within the Department’s Optics Division and aligns with a wider SUPA (Scottish Universities Physics Alliance) initiative in Quantum Optics as well as the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme. You will be expected to lead a research programme of international standing, attract significant funding, publish in leading journals and contribute to teaching and to the strategic leadership and management of the Department.
Start-up provision is made to support new appointments.
Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Professor Stefan Kuhr, Head of Department (firstname.lastname@example.org), Professor Erling Riis (email@example.com) and Professor Andrew Daley (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Formal interviews for this post are expected to be held during late June 2023.
