Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is an autonomous, university-level, Catholic College of Education and the Liberal Arts. Founded in 1898, and linked academically with the University of Limerick, MIC is the oldest higher education institution in Limerick. Significant expansion in recent decades has seen the College’s offerings proliferate across two impressive campuses, one based in the heart of Limerick City and one in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Assistant Professor in Business MIC St Patrick’s Campus, Thurles
Mary Immaculate College wishes to create a panel from which appointments to the post of Assistant Professor (Assistant Lecturer/Lecturer) in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Studies (Business and Accounting) on the BA in Education programmes, St. Patrick’s Campus, Thurles, may be made. An initial permanent, part time appointment at 0.6fte will commence in September 2023.
Commitment to high-quality teaching and learning in a student-centred multi-disciplinary environment is essential. Evidence must be shown of a commitment to excellence in teaching, research and continued scholarly activity. The appointee will have specific duties in lecturing on post-primary teacher education programmes, including on core Business modules on the B.A. in Education programmes, within the School of Post-Primary Education, St Patrick’s Campus, Thurles. The person appointed will have duties across the Business components of the courses on offer, and will contribute to the development of graduates pursuing careers as post-primary teachers in these subject disciplines, as well as careers in Business. The appointee will also have school placement supervision duties.
