The School of Chemistry and Biosciences wishes to recruit an ambitious biochemist to further develop our research in biomedical science leading to mechanistic understanding which will produce solutions to treat human disease. We have a vibrant research environment which includes 45 early career research staff and students. The excellent laboratory and computational facilities will provide major opportunities for you to develop your independent research career and collaborate with materials chemists, structural biochemists, skin scientists, vascular biologists, neuroscientists and computational scientists. The successful candidate will join the academic team which delivers the Biomedical Science undergraduate degree and our suite of Masters programmes including MSc in Bioinformatics, Medical Biosciences, Skin Sciences and Stem Cell Biology and Physiology & Molecular Biology. As part of the role you will develop and deliver innovative and inclusive learning and teaching activities on our programmes and supervise undergraduate and Masters research projects as well as contributing to supervision of PhD students. You should be publishing your research in high quality research journals and have ambitious plans to grow your research through competitive bidding to external funding sources including UK Research and Innovation and/ or industry. Your research will align with one of the active research groups or Faculty themes which enables research without barriers and maximises collaborative opportunities. This could include Centre for Skin Sciences, Life Course: Cells to Systems in Health and Disease and/ or the interface of Chemistry, Biology and Materials.
You should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in biochemistry related to one of the areas above with recent high quality published outputs which can demonstrate impact and evidence of an ability to work effectively in a team. Some experience of teaching or other examples and facilitating student learning which may relate to research supervision of taught students is expected.
