The School of Computing at the University of Portsmouth wishes to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the field of Computer Science. You will be involved in curriculum development, a wide range of teaching duties and contribute to the School's research activities.
You will be joining a large diverse School with strong student recruitment to a broad range of on-campus and distance-learning BCS accredited courses spanning the computing discipline. The School attracts students from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures both from within the UK and elsewhere in the world.
The School has a vigorous and growing research profile with particular strengths in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Healthcare Modelling, Cybersecurity, and an emphasis on applied and interdisciplinary research. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, 74.7% of our research outputs have been ranked as world leading or internationally excellent. We are ranked at #5 in Computer Science and Informatics among modern universities in the UK.
Your duties will include teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, administrative and other management activities appropriate to the post, including assessment, student recruitment and unit co-ordination. You will also be expected to contribute to the School’s research and innovation activities in the areas of your specialism, including publications, external income generation, building research and industrial collaborations, and supervising PhD students.
You should have attained a PhD or equivalent in a computer science or mathematical discipline and should, ideally, also have relevant industrial experience.
Although the post is available as either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, only one appointment will be made. Please note each post has a different person specification/ job description.
