We are seeking an independent and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a 3 year project funded by BBSRC exploring the biology and functions of human oligodendroglia subtypes using tools generated using molecular biology techniques and informed by transcriptomic datasets.
The Opportunity:
Recent publications from our lab suggest that there is heterogeneity of human oligodendrocytes, that some may be better at myelinating than others and that these subtypes are altered in disease. This project will work to better understand this, using ES-derived human oligodendrocytes with reporters, driven to different subtypes using CRISPR technology to express/repress relevant chosen genes to identify functional differences in myelination and metabolic support. This information will lead to understanding their roles in health and disease. We anticipate that this work will lead to high impact publications, future grant proposals and dissemination to the scientific and general communities.
Your skills and attributes for success:
As part of this application you are required to submit a document of no more than one page detailing how you meet each of the essential criteria as outlined on the job description.
