About us
Zhejiang University – University of Illinois Urbana Champagne Institute (ZJUI) and the School of Information Science and Electronic Engineering of Zhejiang University are establishing a new laboratory to investigate electronic quantum phenomena with a view to exploiting theme in devices. The laboratory is located at the Zhejiang University International Campus in Haining, China.
About the role
A postdoctoral position is available to research into electronic devices which utilise the quantum characteristics of the electron in semiconductors. While this includes spin, of particular interest is the phase of the electron in mono energetic (coherent) states where wave like properties are present. An intriguing possibility is to exploit both wave and spin characteristics in electronic devices. While the end application could be to realise gate controlled operation for qubits, the exploration of basic quantum phenomena of electrons for devices is more the focus.

About you
The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD related to electronic devices with good training in physics and materials. Having direct experience of fabricating nanoscale devices and structures in a clean room environment would be a distinct advantage. Experience of having carried out electronic measurements on devices at cryogenic temperatures and/or familiarity with AFM/STM investigation would also be relevant. While candidates with theoretical backgrounds will be considered, some experience of having designed and characterising electronic devices is essential.
What we offer:
Annual salary of 400,000 RMB which can rise to 600,000 RMB for outstanding candidates. The salary consists of the following parts:
The salary will be paid in Chinese RMB and the figures above reflect the current conversion rate to the UK pound.
