Lecturers and Senior Lecturers in Neuroscience (E&R)

Following recent major strategic investment, the University of Exeter is substantially expanding its neuroscience research capacity. Building on the success of our expansion in 2022, and the appointment of excellent neuroscience academics, the department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences has secured additional investment to continue this growth and expand our neuroscience research capacity further. We now have a further four opportunities for talented and passionate academics to undertake research aimed at understanding the underlying mechanisms of brain disease and translating this to improve patient treatment and care.

World-leaders in neuroscience, our research is driven by fundamental and clinically important questions in neuroscience. Our progressive research and outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate education are underpinned by our current expertise in neurogenomics, neurophysiology, neuroendocrinology, neurodevelopment and stem cell biology, and clinical and cognitive neuroscience, as well as cutting-edge innovation in technology.

About the role

Our expansion offers permanent academic opportunities at Lecturer and Senior Lecturer as part of the Medical School within our new Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. This is an exciting time to join the University of Exeter, and you will be an integral part of the development and shaping of the future of neuroscience research and education at Exeter. About you

We are looking for people who are as passionate about their future as we are about ours. If you are excited by the opportunity to apply your expertise in novel approaches to investigate neurological and psychiatric disease and teach on our leading research-inspired undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, we would love to hear from you.

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate excellence in both research and education.

For a Lecturer post you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes
  • Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
  • Involvement in projects which develop impact.

For Senior Lecturers, in addition to the above, you will possess:

  • A strong potential for research leadership
  • A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture
  • Relationships with external organisations and funders/ and knowledge and experience of key sectors or business challenges

Location: Exeter
Salary: The starting salary for Lecturers will be from £40,745 to £49,841 on Grade (F). For Senior Lecturers the salary range will be from £48,423 to £63,059 on Grade (G), depending on qualifications and experience.
