The Department of Architecture and Built Environment is now seeking exceptional scholars to join us as Assistant Professors/Associate Professors/ Professors. Applicants from all areas of expertise in the broad scope of Architecture and Built Environment will be considered, including but not limted to Architectural Design, Digital Design and Fabrication, Environmental Design, Building Technology, or Building Services and Engineering .
About the School/Department
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Architecture and Built Environment to get engaged with teaching and research in a dynamic working environment. Focused on sustainability and innovation, the Department provides a unique opportunity for excellent scholars to play a vital role in delivering our teaching and research. The Department is offering undergraduate degrees in Architecture (RIBA validated), and Architectural Environment Engineering (CIBSEE certified), along with a Postgraduate degree in Urbanism, and Ph.D. programmes. We provide an international platform to nurture critical thinkers and deliver world-class research that fosters collaboration internally and externally. We continuously work with major stakeholders in the industry and various organisations. The Department’s UG and PG programmes capitalize on the growing demand in major areas such as green technologies, smart and healthy buildings, building science, big data analytics, digital design, and carbon neutrality. With China’s growing economy, we are leading by example toward low carbon and sustainable development.
About You
We seek to appoint seasoned, proactive and mature leaders who are self-driven and results-oriented, adaptable and creative, with internationally recognized intellectual contributions in the area of your respective research centre. You will be at Assistant/Associate professor/full professor specializing in an area that is related to your respective research area, with more than three years of experience in an academic role and have experience working in an English-speaking institute. Recognised training in relevant standards and teaching experience, particularly in key technologies related to your respective research and teaching is required; Industry experience would be preferred.
If appointed at the Associate Professor or above, you will be an established academic with an international research profile and strong leadership skills. You are expected to contribute to the Department’s development with proven skills in strategic project planning and development in a complex organization, as well as experience in leading organisational change. Strong analytical skills and experience in setting and implementing a strategic vision are required. Strong verbal and written communication skills will be crucial in managing internal and external stakeholders. You should possess strong management skills and the ability to motivate team members. You should have an extensive international network to attract talents and secure resources. Experience of supervising PhD students to completion in an internationally recognised institution is essential. Experience of building or leading a research group/centre would be desirable.

Successful candidate will be offered a fixed-term contract for up to 5 years, which may be extended by mutual agreement.
